It was a bold idea in 1916.
Nearly a century ago, a group of community leaders came together to found one of the finest athletic and social clubs in the country. It was such a bold idea that it attracted the attention of President Wilson, who helped initiate the project. For generations, the Saint Paul Athletic Club was the heart and soul of the community, a meeting place, and a cherished community landmark. There wasn't then, nor is there now, a finer athletic club within a day's drive.
Over time, classic social and recreational clubs like the Saint Paul Athletic Club largely went the way of top hats and pocket watches. They've been replaced by electronic relationships, never-ending hurry, and big-box fitness clubs that cater to the masses. As the Saint Paul Athletic Club approaches its 100th anniversary, it still remains among the finest remaining clubs of its kind in the country.
It is still a bold idea today.
Both a social and recreational club, the Saint Paul Athletic Club is one of a kind. It is not a part of a chain. It celebrates a harmonious marriage between historically elegant design and the state-of-the-art amenities.
That makes the Saint Paul Athletic Club the best kind of compromise, because it compromises nothing at all. It includes six floors of athletic facilities, a bar, and a hotel.
In this age of impersonal digital communications, there still is a need in all of us for a place to meet. To develop friendships. To engage in real conversations. To relax. To exercise. To achieve wellness—real, whole wellness—in an environment that's too beautiful for words on a web site.
The Saint Paul Athletic Club welcomes to its membership adults of all ages and interests, who share a love for a place such as this. It's a place where you can enjoy a cup of coffee, the newspaper and a private moment alone; a killer workout in our top-of-the-line athletic facilities; or a glass of wine by the fireplace with friends in our stunning lobby.
