Cara Hunter

CLASS: Vinyasa Yoga

BACKGROUND: Cara began practicing yoga several years ago after too many monotonous hours on the treadmill had left her body feeling stiff and achy. She was especially drawn to yoga because of its ability to hone not only the physical body, but mental and emotional discipline as well. She received her 200 RYT training in the spring of 2012 and her Nutrition Coaching Certificate the following summer. Cara’s main goal for her students is that they leave class feeling they’ve been challenged, centered, and revitalized.

When she isn’t practicing yoga, Cara teaches art lessons. She also loves testing out new recipes in the kitchen, gardening, and exploring the Twin Cities with the loves of her life. She can’t wait to see you on your mat!

Dana Beddingfield

BACKGROUND: Dana has been practicing yoga for over 20 years.  She has a passion for sharing the benefits of a regular practice with others.  This is how Dana describes her teaching philosophy: "I just want to meet you on your mat... wherever you are in your practice... and offer encouragement or guidance."

CERTIFICATIONS: Dana is RYT200 and has done additional training in therapeutic yoga at the Duke Center for Holistic Medicine at Duke University Medical School.  She has practiced with many notable teachers including Stephanie Keach, Rolf Gate and Rod Stryker as well as taking a yoga anatomy workshop with Leslie Kaminoff and CPR/AED.

Dana is happy to be joining the Saint Paul Athletic Club and the University Club community and she looks forward to seeing each of you on your mat!

Jason Rebeck

BACKGROUND: Jason started his fitness career in January 2007 as a Group Fitness Instructor and then accepted a position with the YMCA as Group Fitness Manager in October 2007.   Group fitness allows him to exercise (no pun intended!) his passion for activity while also inspiring, motivating, and guiding others to do the same.

INTERESTS:  Outside of fitness he enjoys Theatre, Karaoke, dancing, traveling, hiking, and music.

Jen Palmer

CLASS: Vinyasa Yoga

BACKGROUND:  Jen found her way to her mat in the spring of 2010 as a way to calm her mind and strengthen her body.  After just one class she was amazed at how great she felt and was “hooked”.  It did not take long for her to discover that Yoga is a practice for her mind, body and spirit.  It is an opportunity to reboot, clear her mind (if only for one hour), concentrate on herself and a chance to challenge and strengthen her body.  She has found her yoga practice has made her a better mom, a better wife, a better listener and a better person.  In the fall of 2014 she received her certification in Power Yoga from CorePower Yoga.  Her teacher training allowed her to not only deepen her own practice, but also to share her love of Yoga with others and guide them thru their own practice.

INTERESTS:  Off her mat, Jen enjoys spending time with her family including cooking and baking with her husband and daughter, playing in her garden, strolling thru the St. Paul Farmer’s Market and cheering on the Gophers Men’s Hockey Team!

Jill Boon

CLASSES: Zumba, Barre

BACKGROUND: Jill has always loved to dance and keep moving. She has struggled with her weight since high school but  in 2011 she decided she needed to get into shape and not let life take over. She started doing Zumba and it changed her life and her love for working out. She promised herself once she had lost 50 pounds she would become Certified Zumba Instructor to make a difference in other peoples lives as her instructors have. No matter your size, shape, gender, or age if you like the let the music take you away, come and try Zumba and I promise you will keep coming back feeling energized and ready to take the world by storm. 

Jill also decided to become certified in Barre and has loved every minute of it. The changes she has seen in her body and the strength she is gaining, has her telling anyone and everyone that they need to take Barre.

Kristina Gorder

CLASS: Vinyasa Yoga

BACKGROUND: A dedicated student and practitioner of yoga, Kristina has draws inspiration from a variety of schools and yoga traditions, primarily Anusara, Iyengar, and Ashtanga Vinyasa. Yoga has given Kristina a meaningful way to challenge her mind,body, and spirit, and she quickly discovered that her yoga pracitce also helped her to navigate the challenges of everyday life. In 2014, Kristina finally took the plunge and completed her teacher training with Noah Maze in Los Angeles. She also has well over 500 hours of workshops and immersions under her belt, diving deep into the study of alignment, sequencing, and the philosophy and history of yoga. Kristina aims to cultivate a welcoming and supportive classroom environment with classes that are accessible yet challenging for everyone, weaving conscious alignment with intelligent sequencing and stories from the heart which reflect the yoga we practice both on and off the mat.

INTERESTS: Off her mat, Kristina works in marketing and communications, and also enjoys running, cooking, reading, and watching the Twins with her husband Ben, their cat Mini and their dog Sidney.

Libby Petit

CLASS: Fusion Yoga

BACKGROUND:  Libby became a nationally certified fitness instructor 8 years ago with AFFA when she retired from many years in the corporate world.  She loves teaching Yoga to all ages and has a particular interest in Gentle Yoga for those just beginning their practice. 

INTERESTS:  When not teaching Yoga, Step and Silver Sneakers classes, Libby’s favorite favorite activities include spending time with her grandchildren, reading and running.  She qualified and ran the Boston Marathon 3 years ago and continues to run at marathon pace.

Linda Hoffman

CLASS: Total Body Conditioning

BACKGROUND Linda began her career in Health and Fitness 35 years ago, when aerobics and aerobic fitness was a new concept. Health and fitness has been an important part of her life and something she's continued while working full time in both the corporate and non-profit arenas. Her experience includes group fitness instruction and program management and Linda is pleased to be returning to teaching after a one year hiatus, during which time she and her spouse lived in Alicante, Spain.

Linda is experienced in multiple formats including Step, Floor Cardio, Strength, Circuit, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), Tabata, Core Conditioning and Flexibility, BodyPump, Spinning and Yoga.

CERTIFICATIONS: Currently National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA) certified with additional trainings and certification in Yoga, BodyPump, Drums Alive, Step, Kettlebell, Spinning and CPR/AED.

Outside of teaching Linda enjoys travel, theater and dance and, most of all, baking.

Nicole Smith

CLASS: Insanity

Background: Nicole’s passion for sports and activity began at a very young age. Throughout the years she has been involved with a variety of sports and activities and has worked hard to maintain the fitness built along the way. Nicole has always loved working with others to try and share the passion that athletics has to offer. Since graduating from SUNY Brockport with a BS degree in Physical Education she has worked with a wide variety of age levels through school systems and coaching. Throughout her experiences in teaching Physical Education her exposure to group fitness became larger as she attended higher volumes of classes to be well versed in order to teach aerobics classes as one of the high school elective courses. Seeing the benefit these classes had on her students combined with the energy and variety obtained personally within group fitness classes hooked her and a new passion was born. When her Wednesday night Zumba class changed to an Insanity class she decided that a change of pace would be good. Nicole has never been afraid of a challenge and quickly feel in love with fierce intensity of Insanity. After 1 class she new that this was something she could get into and within a couple months of beginning the class she found herself at a certification course. Now she is looking forward to widening her reach to include an adult population and share her enthusiasm for exercise and living a healthy lifestyle. 

Interests: coaching, running, biking, hiking, hockey, ultimate frisbee, visiting with friends, listening to music, relaxing at the lake, reading, cooking (when time allows it) and spending time with her dog.

Paula Lindemann

CLASS: Vinyasa Yoga

BACKGROUND:  Has been practicing yoga for over 15 years. Her passion for yoga and travel led her to India where she studied yoga, meditation, chanting, and philosophy at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram.   She received her 230 RYT through the Yoga Center of Minneapolis and is registered with Yoga Alliance.

Her teaching emphasizes uniting alignment and breath in a practice that focuses on increasing awareness, strength, and flexibility.  She encourages you to engage your physical and mental edges mindfully and safely, empowering you to develop and refine your own personal practice. As a cyclist and runner, she understands the importance of conditioning the body along with the quieting of the mind: the balance of precision with introspection and bliss.

She also teaches yoga in corporate settings, yoga studios and fitness centers.  She splits her time teaching with recording voice-overs, commercial work, and international travel.

She is grateful to the many teachers who have influenced and guided her toward living authentically.  She continues her education through workshops with Jonas Westring, Max Strom, Jason Crandell, and Sadie Nardini.  She looks forward to sharing these practices with you.

Sandra Anderson

CLASS: Vinyasa Yoga/Gentle Yoga

BACKGROUND: Sandra has always been a very active person. First she played
softball, then she participated in Track, then Volleyball, then long
distance running and then yoga in 2004. The more yoga she practiced yoga,
the better she felt so yoga simply just became a huge part of her life. In
the Fall of 2013 she decided to take a power vinyasa yoga teacher training
and it changed her life. She is so happy to be able to guide other yogis
through this beautiful practice of yoga. So far in Sandra's yoga journey
she has experienced Bikram, Lyengar, Vinyasa, and Kundalini.

INTERESTS: In her spare time she loves to create art, listen to music,
dance, play with her cats, spend time with friends, bike, be outdoors and
pretty much anything that's funny/light hearted.

Stefanie Haglund

CLASS: Warrior Sculpt

BACKGROUND: Stefanie grew up Irish Dancing as a child and danced as an adult until the birth of her second child. She has been an avid runner completing 3 half marathons and countless shorter road races. After a long running career took its toll, she turned to Yoga to keep her fit and active and preserve her knees. She's been actively practicing yoga for the last five years and is passionate about sharing her love of yoga not only for your physical being but also your mental being . She has been a dedicated Yoga Sculptor and in the spring of 2014 she completed the Core Power Yoga Sculpt Teacher Training and the subsequent Yoga Sculpt Extensions Teacher Training in Summer 2014. She is keen on ensuring proper positioning to keep her students safe and injury free and that the depth of a pose is not as important. Stefanie continues to build her skills and enhance her teaching modalities by recently participating in a weekend long Barre training in the hopes to become Barre certified. Both Yoga and Barre compliment each other and bring together her love of yoga and dance.

INTERESTS: By day Stefanie works as an HR Business Partner for an engineering company in Bloomington. She's also an active member of the Junior League of Minneapolis and active in philanthropic events around town. Stefanie's greatest loves are spending time with her husband, 2 children, & her two shitzu poodle dogs and attempting Pinterest crafts and recipes.

Suzanne Krantitz

suzanne krantitz, personal trainer, st. paul athletic club

CLASSES: Barbell Strength & Cycle

BACKGROUND: Suzanne began teaching group exercise in 1995, after
completing a 12 week certification program at the YWCA of Minneapolis.

After earning a B.S. in Applied Management in 2000, she became the Customer
Service Manager for NETA. Other positions she has held at NETA include
National Trainer, Marketing and Development Director, and Director of
Training and Development. She currently holds a full time position at the
State of Minnesota, and teaches group exercise classes at the YWCA and
SPAC. She continues to present national certifications for NETA, including
Group Exercise, Pilates Mat & Reformer (developed by Suzanne), Yoga, and
numerous continuing education workshops.

She has a true passion for fitness, is a self-professed fitness geek, and
is on a continual quest for balance. She believes that each person’s
fitness journey is unique, and respects all levels of pursuit.

CERTIFICATIONS: Her first national certification was with NDEITA (now
NETA). She has since earned certifications through ACE, AFAA, Stott
Pilates Mat & Reformer, Physical Mind, The Pilates Coach, Yogafit, Lemond
Cycling, and BodyPump and CPR/AED.

Mandy Bear 

Classes: PiYo LIVE, Turbo Kick LIVE

BACKGROUND: Mandy started her fitness career in June 2006 as a Group Fitness Instructor and then, once relocating to Minnesota from Texas, she joined the ranks of Beachbody LIVE's Master Trainers traveling the MidWest training the newest Beachbody LIVE Instructors. 

CERTIFICATIONS: She holds her National Group Certification through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and her Certified Personal Trainer Certification through the American Council of Exercise (ACE), and has additional training and certifications in PiYo LIVE, TurboKick LIVE, INSANITY LIVE, Country Heat LIVE, CIZE LIVE and CPR/First Aid/AED. 

Becoming a group fitness instructor changed her life in too many ways to list. It allowed her encourage those who need that positive escape to join her for one hour of their day for an experience that leaves them healthier than when they walked into the studio. 

INTERESTS: Mandy's true passion is to be help others be the very best instructor that they can be. She walks new and seasoned fitness instructors through the how tons of the industry. This is where Mandy finds joy! 

Outside of fitness she enjoys dancing with her children (6 & 4), fashion, anything TEXAN, food, and time with her friends.

Kara Noble

CLASS: Vinyasa Yoga, Total Barre

BACKGROUND: Kara started her yoga journey when she was only 16 years old.  She took her first vinyasa class on State Street in Madison, Wisconsin and was hooked.  Many years later, she finally decided it was time to take the next step and become a teacher.  

CERTIFICATIONS: She completed her first 200 hour certification with Corepower Yoga but has since completed over 300 hours of training with LifePower Yoga and leads LifePower yoga teacher trainings and CPR/AED.

She recently completed “Off the Mat and Into the World” with Sean Corn, Hala Khouri and Suzanne Sterling and plans to attend Prison Yoga to become certified to teach yoga in detention centers.

INTERESTS: When she is not doing yoga, she is dropping it like it’s hot at one of her Hip-Hop dance classes, traveling the world or hiking in nature.

Ralph Richardson

CLASS:  Cycle


BACKGROUND:  Ralph changed up careers and went back for his Masters at the U of M where he graduated in Behavioral Sciences.  He feels exercise is the most potent tool available and that is my field of study and work.

ICG trained cycling instructor with a road bike background.  He enjoys being pushed by fellow bikers and learning about their experiences both off and on the bike.  His philosophy is short breaks, high-intensity and constant change make for a successful workout highlighted with sweat.  I enjoy extreme sports, learning, laughing and hearing peoples’ ideas and experiences.

Jerry Chrisman

CLASS: Barbell Strength, Insanity, Tabata, Boot Camp, Triple Threat

BACKGROUND: In 2008 Jerry walked into Group Fitness class for the first time. By the end of the class - he was hooked. In 2013 he became a certified Group Fitness Instructor through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Since then he has earned additional certifications through Start Fitness, Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and Beachbody in strength, conditioning and high intensity interval training formats.

Jerry is passionate about Group Fitness because of the numerous benefits and accountability inherent to many formats associated with Group Fitness. These types of training environments provide the participants with the tools and knowledge to realize their fitness goals within the support context of others who are working on reaching their next potential as well.

When Jerry is not hosting a health and wellness party in the Group Fitness studio or rolling around the mud in an Obstacle Course Race (OCR), he enjoys participating in the arts either on stage, in the orchestra or leading vocal ensembles.

Sarah Baumert

CLASS: Vinyasa Yoga

BACKGROUND: Sarah Baumert is known for her thorough and diverse methods of instruction, her dedication to holding space for individual’s personal discovery and her investment in building personal relationships with her students. Sarah is a dedicated somatic practitioner with a history of exploring movement and the physical body. From an early age, Sarah’s training as a dancer introduced her to the mind body connection and the power that comes from the awareness of a precise alignment of the body. Sarah provides a combination of practical and whimsical elements in her teaching, resulting in a structured, safe atmosphere where students can play, explore, and re-energize.

Sarah's teaching is alignment based, unhurried, and rich with somatic inquiries. Her teaching helps deepen your sense of how to move, teaching you strategies for reducing effort and pain, and gaining coordination. She has experience working with bodies suffering from chronic pain, injury, illness, and other forms of disease. Sarah works with a variety of populations including athletes, seniors, artists, dancers, children, those who struggle with depression, and those recovering from injury.
